"Wear VR glasses and step into the mural, this is really amazing!" On September 8, the VR large-space immersive digital experience project "The other side of the mural is launched in the Tang Dynasty" jointly produced by Shaanxi History Museum and Yuanxiang Technology. This is the first impression of Ms. Zhang, a Qinghai tourist who has experienced it, after immersively watching the treasures of murals.

The "tour guide" for VR experience is Li Guangren, the second son of Prince Zhanghuai Li Xian, or a child who is wearing red clothes to lead tourists to his father Li Xian's life. Relying on "AI+3D" technology and VR large space as carrier, we will build a "time and space channel" for the audience to travel through thousands of years.

Why choose the theme of murals? Zhao Qiang, co-founder of Yuanxiang Technology, introduced that the Tang tomb murals are precious remains reflecting the social style of the Tang Dynasty and are known as the "Tang Dynasty Encyclopedia". Immersively viewing these murals can experience the more vivid Tang Dynasty style.

"The Tang Tomb murals are the most representative collection of Shaanxi Libao. The 675 murals with an area of about 1,200 square meters unearthed from nearly 30 Tang Dynasty tombs have become a famous collection of characteristic cultural relics in the country and even the world due to their large number, high grade, complete sequence and good preservation. However, due to the fragility of the material and the special preservation, it is difficult for the authentic Tang Tomb murals to go out to tour like other cultural relics. Therefore, we continue to use new technologies to improve the display and dissemination efficiency of Tang Tomb murals. This project fully interprets the innovative path of 'technology empowering cultural communication'." said Pang Yani, director of Shaanxi Libao.

"Wearing these VR glasses, I rode on a gilded Feilian pattern six-curve silver plate to see the grand scenery of Chang'an; I took a canopy carriage to chase the royal hunting team. This experience suddenly made me have a very real experience of the millennium murals." Liu Zhu, a tourist and cultural lover from Shanxi, said with a smile after the experience.

Zhao Qiang, co-founder of Yuanxiang Technology, introduced that the project integrates multiple new technologies such as 12K ultra-clear sampling to achieve "change scenery and reveal details." It is hoped that it can help China's excellent traditional culture achieve "breaking the circle" and "going to the sea".

Visitors can experience it at Shaanxi Libo Qinhan Hall from September 9th to December 31st, 2026.
