Recently, the South China Morning Post reported that Dell plans to initiate layoffs in China, and the global employee size will be reduced from 120,000 to 108,000, a decrease of 10%. The reason behind this is directly pointing to the "cliff-like" decline of its PC business in the Chinese market.
All this stems from a rumor at the end of 2022: Dell is accused of "excluding China's supply chain" from 2025, discontinuing Chinese chips and evacuating all production lines. For a time, remarks about "Made in China were hit hard" were rampant, but Dell was always silent.
Subsequently, Dell was spontaneously boycotted by domestic consumers. In 2023, Dell's shipments in China declined, with only 8% of its market share remaining. Although Dell issued a statement to refute the rumor in January of the following year, no one bought it. According to Canalys' second quarter data in 2025, there is no longer Dell in the top five in the domestic PC market.
Dell, finally took off himself.

63.5 billion was wasted! Dell "falls and falls"
In 2008, many technology industries were defeated by the financial crisis and were on the verge of bankruptcy and bankruptcy. Dell successfully entered the Chinese market and consumed surplus production capacity under the banner of "in China, for China", and successfully survived the industry winter.
In the past 20 years, Dell has been able to ascend to the throne of the global PC king, and it is inseparable from our country's help. It is reported that the components missing from Dell's production line can collect 80% in one hour, and the local government provides it with a number of benefits such as low-priced land, water and electricity. At its peak, Dell set up 85% of its supply chain in China, and more than 25% of its revenue was contributed by my country.
However, as the "dehooking incident" became more and more intense, Dell, who had taken advantage of the development dividends in the mainland, started a business of losing money. According to multiple media reports, Dell plans to "exclude 100% of China-made" by 2027. The news quickly fermented after it was released, and many foreign media used it to criticize my country's manufacturing industry prospects, but Dell almost acquiesced to the rumors, leaving only one sentence "Chinese consumers are welcome to continue purchasing products."

The wave of "de-Dellization" is emerging, and the former giants are unable to reverse the decline
It is reported that as early as the beginning of Dell's evacuation, many foreign media speculated that this move would hit my country's industry/chain hard. German media issued a report predicting that "China must be the one who suffers."
However, my country's Huawei, Asus and other companies have turned the crisis into opportunities and "eating" the country that Dell has built over many years. Data shows that in the second quarter of 2025, HUAWEI's domestic market shipments reached one million units, and its market share firmly ranked second. In contrast, Dell has gone from second place at its peak to "other".
The New York Times issued a warning that the rise of the "de-Dellization" wave has stimulated China's determination to develop cutting-edge technology. Biologics represented by "Yi-Hao-Sheng" have also achieved a price decline under the breakthrough of China's technology.

It can be seen that any overseas brand in the backstab/Chinese market will eventually be abandoned by Chinese consumers. If the news of Dell's layoffs at the beginning of this month is true, this is its fourth adjustment this year. Whether Dell is promoting the supply chain's "de-Delectronication", from the perspective of performance, the Chinese market has already taken the initiative to choose "de-Delectronication".
03 Domestic manufacturing is ready to go, Dell will not send it away
For a long time, the West has collected high "protection fees" through technology monopoly, but it is still trying hard to suppress it when it is emerging in my country's high-tech field - from computers, semiconductors, drones to biotechnology, China has almost responded to the entire Western technology encirclement with its own strength.
The rise of domestic technology allows us to calmly face the withdrawal of "Dells" and achieve self-sufficiency. More importantly, it makes us clearly realize that only by mastering core technologies can we truly win the international voice.
Dell's small step back in China is a big step forward in domestic manufacturing.
