On September 10, the Party Branch of the Municipal CPPCC Retired Cadres held a theme party day activity to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan to study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War; and held a lecture on the unique contributions of the Baoji ICCO during the War of Resistance Against Japan.
During the activity, the party members carefully studied General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, listened attentively, and recalled the war years that embodied the feelings of family and country in the “Baoji ICCO’s unique contributions during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression”.
Zhang Zhanqin, deputy director, chief expert and researcher of the Northwest Industrial and Cooperative Research Center of Baoji University of Arts and Sciences, systematically sorted out the development context of Baoji Industrial and Cooperative Organization with the core of "industry to save the country and defend the rear, and work together to help the war of resistance". He introduced that in 1938, under the promotion of China's industrial cooperation movement, the Baoji Industrial and Cooperative Organization came into being and became an important production force in the northwest rear during the War of Resistance Against Japan. Faced with the shortage of materials caused by the Japanese army's blockade, the Baoji ICCO integrated local handicraft workshops and folk skills, and formed 264 production cooperatives including machinery, textiles, hardware, etc., and produced a total of more than 50,000 grenade shells, 5 million military blankets, and more than 100,000 agricultural tools. This not only provided key military supplies to the front line, but also ensured the basic living needs of the people in the rear. The historical photos and archival documents displayed by Zhang Zhanqin allow party members to intuitively feel the figures and scenes of the frontline support of the ICKCO members working day and night.
After listening to the lecture, many party members said: I have learned about the ICK movement before, but today I know the specific contributions of the Baoji ICK Organization in the War of Resistance. The members have overcome the difficulties of simple equipment and scarce raw materials to insist on production. This spirit of self-reliance, unity and mutual assistance is deeply touched, and we should always remember it.
Party branch secretary Li Xiaoyang emphasized that the contribution of Baoji ICCO is not only reflected in the material level, but also condenses valuable spiritual strength. "It breaks the boundaries of regions and industries, unites workers, farmers, intellectuals and other groups, and uses industrial action to save the country to interpret the rise and fall of the world. Every man has a responsibility. This spirit still has important inspiration for the present - in the face of difficulties and challenges, only by working together can we gather the joint efforts of development. We must thoroughly study General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, further enhance the "four consciousnesses", firm up the "four self-confidences", and achieve the "two safeguards". The majority of party members must consciously inherit and carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japan, and deeply study the history of Baoji Industrial and Commercial Cooperative Medical College; inherit the red gene, so that the great spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japan and the "work hard and work together" will continue to be revitalized in the high-quality development of Baoji in the new era.
