The 2025 China International Service Trade Fair has grandly opened at the Beijing Shougang Convention and Exhibition Center. In the exhibition area of the "Technology Empowerment·Smart Culture and Museum" of the Beijing Cultural Relics Bureau, the Beijing Archaeology Research Institute brought exciting content to the "Technology Archaeology and Cultural Relics Protection" area. The special area sets up an indoor booth with the theme of "Empirical History of Beijing's City Building" to focus on displaying the scientific and technological means and achievements that empower archaeological research for the first time, extract more potential information, and more comprehensively reveal the scientific and technological means and achievements of ancient social life. Focusing on the revitalization and innovative role played by scientific and technological archaeology and multidisciplinary cooperative research in exploring the origin of Beijing and empirizing the history of Beijing’s 3070 construction in the past, allowing the public to perceive the achievements of scientific and technological archaeology through actual experience, understand the historical context of Beijing’s “thousand-year-old capital”, and enhance cultural identity.


The physical specimens exhibited at the Service Trade Fair were based on important archaeological discoveries from the Shang and Zhou dynasties in Beijing from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties, including the unearthed pottery tripods, pottery gui, pottery jars and bronze gypsum models unearthed from the Liulihe site. Carbonized plant seeds and animal bones were unearthed from the Liulihe site, the Luxian Gucheng site, and the Jinzhongdu site. The experience of the pottery is a five-piece utensil such as pottery cups and pottery jars unearthed from the ruins of the ancient city of Lu County. The porcelain pieces specimens include blue and white porcelain pieces made in Wanli year, Longquan celadon of the Yuan Dynasty, and Jun kiln porcelain pieces. There are also two groups of Han Dynasty coins and more than 40 metal specimens that have been prepared, and 101 pieces of white ash or soil flakes that can be observed for microscopy. Each set of booths is equipped with a super-deep field three-dimensional video microscope or asana microscope, which can be used to experience the microscopic perspective of archaeology by practically experiencing the microscope of archaeology. It can be observed and measured through three-dimensional synthesis, reflect the details of the relics, realize screen sharing, and enhance the interactive experience.


The "Technology Archaeology and Cultural Relics Protection" area of this year's Fair for Trade in Services systematically presents the wide application of multi-disciplinary cross-integration in scientific and technological archaeology research during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in Beijing, and has effectively promoted the deep integration of cultural and tourism integration with the public's archaeology undertakings, making cultural relics "live", making history "at within reach", and enhancing the public's understanding of scientific and technological archaeology.
