Mark Cuban reveals that he tried to warn Sun bosses against adopting an "all-in" strategy
Mavericks minority shareholder Mark Cuban tried to warn Suns boss Matt Ishbiya early in his NBA coaching career.

Dallas Mavericks minority shareholder Mark Cuban said he had warned Phoenix Suns owner Matt Ishbiya not to make major changes early in his coaching period. After the Suns’ minority shareholder filed a lawsuit against Ishbiya for multiple violations, Cuban shared his conversation with the Phoenix Suns’ major shareholder, warning him not to make new changes.
Cuban said he had talked to Ishbiya about how running an NBA team is different from the businesses he ran before joining the Mavericks, according to ESPN's Road Trippin.
"I actually talked to Matt. When he first came to the All-Star Game, we started talking about it. For example, from running a business to entering the NBA, I thought it was like how I was successful," Cuban said. "You know what I did at the company would work. It worked for me at the time and now, too. And they're just a bunch of people who don't know other bosses."
Mark Kuban said that Ishbiya's goal of taking over the new Suns boss with the goal of winning the championship is wrong.
"Matt came with a lot of fighting spirit, but you know that didn't work," Cuban added. "In our conversation, I said, I respect his efforts and respect his goals, but I want to tell you that when you give it all, it's a zero-sum game. Either it really works or you'll be frustrated for a long time."
Kendrick Perkins believes that the Suns are the most embarrassing team in the NBA

ESPN's Kendrick Perkins recently spoke about the Suns' disappointing seasons over the past few years. As a former NBA center, Perkins said the Suns’ shortcomings were embarrassing.
According to ESPN's Road Trippin program, Perkins said that for him, the team should feel like the most embarrassing team in the NBA.
"Some might say, or some would say, the Phoenix Suns have been the most embarrassing team in the NBA for the past three or four years," Perkins said. "They were in good shape four or five years ago. The NBA Finals, Team Culture, Monty Williams, Paul Paul, were all ruled by Giannis."
To get the Suns back to the Finals after their last finals in 2021, Suns owner Matt Ishbiya formed the latest NBA super team by trading Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, selected alongside 2023 All-Star Devin Booker. However, as injuries hindered the development of chemical reactions between the Big Three, the Suns' roster lacked depth besides the three best players, so they failed to make great strides in the playoffs.
