Recently, it was learned from overseas media that To commemorate the 12 consecutive wins achieved by Toyota's team in the mass-produced car category of the Dakar Rally, Toyota officially launched a new Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport Rally Raid limited edition model. The car is limited to 12 units, and 12 sets of exclusive modification kits are available simultaneously, specially designed for diesel version GR Sport owners.

In terms of appearance, the new car has undergone a number of exclusive upgrades based on the GR Sport version, including 18-inch Enkei PDT1 rims with all-terrain tires, red brake calipers and trailer hooks. The body is also equipped with exclusive fenders and TLC pattern painted to highlight its identity as a commemorative version of the event.

The chassis suspension and cockpit isolation system have also been targetedly upgraded, which is more suitable for long-distance off-road driving. The interior is made of exclusive seats made of leather and Ultra Suede, and the center console is inlaid with Rally Raid commemorative nameplate, further emphasizing the unique identity of the limited edition.

The power remains unchanged, and it is still equipped with a 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel engine, with a maximum power of 304 horsepower, a peak torque of 700 Nm, and is matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission and front and rear electronic differential, retaining excellent four-wheel drive performance.

It is reported that Rally Raid's upgrade kit will also be available to existing car owners, and some accessories will be sold separately, but currently only in the Japanese market. The new car is priced at 9.3808 million yen (about RMB 452,600), and the complete modification kit is priced at 1.5114 million yen (about RMB 73,000), which is significantly higher than the starting price of the standard version of GR Sport 8.1367 million yen (about RMB 392,500).
Big head view:
Toyota launches this limited edition model more for brand promotion and commemorative significance rather than volume sales. Its exclusive design and limited-edition strategy can indeed attract the attention of loyal fans and collectors. However, in the increasingly electrified automobile market, the symbolic significance of this type of large-displacement diesel limited edition model may be greater than the actual market significance. For most consumers, what is more important is how Toyota delegates its racing technology to mass-produced models to improve the car use experience of ordinary users. What do you think?
