At the same time, the number of enthusiasts of outdoor sports such as cycling and road running has also increased significantly. Chongli fully utilizes its resource advantages to create characteristic sports events, and revitalizes the ice and snow city.
18-degree summer attracts guests
The average summer temperature is 18.4℃, the annual average concentration of PM2.5 is 12 micrograms/cubic meter, the forest coverage rate is 71.5%, and the air negative oxygen ion concentration reaches 10,000 per cubic centimeter... The unique ecological advantages and climate advantages have made Chongli the attributes of "summer paradise".
69-year-old Chongqing tourist Zhang Shusheng and his wife came to Chongli for the summer vacation this year. They have been staying in a B&B in the urban area for more than a month. "It is quiet at night, it feels very cool, there are no mosquitoes, and they sleep well."

The flexible figure shuttled through the rugged forest rocks, cleverly dodging the lush green trees that were constantly welcoming on both sides, and headed towards the foot of the mountain... In Chongli, the "cycling wind" is getting stronger and stronger. Major ski resorts have transformed winter ski resorts into summer mountain bike tracks, achieving diversified utilization of venue resources and attracting many cycling enthusiasts. Zou Zhongqiao, the head of Fulong Four Seasons Town, introduced that the ski resort has built 12 mountain downhill lanes, with difficulty ranging from zero foundation to professional level, with a total mileage of 27 kilometers, which is the same as the total mileage of winter snow tracks, achieving the unity of the construction scale of core sports events in winter and summer.
Li Yanli, a professor at Beijing Sports University, noticed: "Converting winter and summer operations into four-season operations has become a new trend in the development of venues in Chongli District in recent years. In addition to the prosperity of winter ski resorts, summer activity operations are also constantly seeking diversification, such as Chongli 168 International Supercross Championships, Beijing-Zhangjiakou All-Season Sports Tourism Carnival, etc.."
Optimize services to improve the visitor experience
From "One season of fire" to "Four seasons of hot", how to bring tourists a high-quality tourism experience?
Han Xiaoyu, deputy director of the Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, Tourism and Sports of Chongli District, introduced that the summer operation has not yet been launched, Chongli took action in advance, carried out large-scale service personnel quality training, and continued to conduct safety inspections on scenic spots, hotels and other places, and increased the bus stops and frequency in the core area of the Winter Olympics.
In order to give tourists a better travel experience, Chongli High-speed Railway Station has opened a special channel to quickly divert tourists and help tourists leave the station as soon as possible. After leaving the station, you can also take a shuttle bus to various scenic spots. During the summer vacation, Chongli's snow scene area has added a convenience service desk to divert tourists in a timely manner to ensure the tourism experience. Some scenic spots adjust their opening hours and extend their catering service hours according to changes in customer flow. In addition, Chongli has also optimized the scenic spot information management platform and launched a local tourism service mini program. Visitors can see information about each tourist attraction by scanning the code, or upload their own complaints or suggestions. The initial feedback from relevant departments can be reported by telephone the next day at the latest.
It is understood that as of August 24, Chongli received a total of 3.739 million tourists this summer, an increase of 11% year-on-year. The total tourism expenditure was 3.26 billion yuan, an increase of 7% year-on-year.
Events connected with Olympic legacy
The use of Olympic venues after the game is a common problem faced by many Olympic venues. In response, Guo Zhiwei, vice chairman of the Zhangjiakou Municipal CPPCC and director of the Municipal Sports Bureau, said: "We rely on high-standard venue facilities and rich event experience, and closely follow the development ideas of transformation and upgrading, diversified event supply and industrial coordination and integration to promote the sustainable and efficient operation of the Winter Olympic heritage."
In July 2022, the Chongli Olympic Park in Zhangjiakou was officially opened. The park integrates the three major competition venues of the National Ski Jump Center "Snow Ruyi", the National Biathlon Center, the National Cross-Country Ski Center, as well as supporting facilities such as Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village and "Ice Jade Ring", becoming a new starting point for the reuse of venues in the post-Olympic era.
How to make full use of the Winter Olympic venues? The local government first focused on hosting events at all levels and types. Zhang Litao, general manager of Zhangjiakou Xingyuan Sports Culture and Tourism Operation Management Co., Ltd., introduced that in recent years, Chongli has hosted more than 10 international snow project professional competitions and 37 national-level events, ranking first in the country for three consecutive years.
How can Winter Olympics stadiums attract more tourists in addition to the events? The local area continues to transform the Winter Olympics venues, allowing the full-season empowerment of the business format to be continuously implanted: the "Snow Ruyi" Pincident Club has opened a German-style restaurant, and the outside includes the Xueruyi Valley Park, Ruyi Waterfront Park, etc.; the National Cross-Country Skiing Center and the National Biathlon Center, with off-road motorcycle yards, bicycle pump lanes, etc.; the Zhangjiakou Winter Olympics Village has built a football field, a basketball court, and a rock climbing hall, and 1,643 athlete rooms have been transformed into guest rooms...
Now, events, study, tourism, conferences and exhibitions carried out based on the Winter Olympics venues have become the four core businesses of the Chongli Olympic Park in Zhangjiakou. Winter and summer are the peak study seasons for the park. "It is a different experience to be able to experience the charm of the Winter Olympics venues and learn about the Winter Olympics knowledge, as well as to experience projects such as Ferris wheels and high-altitude trails." This summer vacation, Wang Chenshuo, a primary school student from Beijing, studied in Chongli for three days and was very pleased.
Data shows that since its official opening in 2023, Zhangjiakou Chongli Olympic Park has received a total of 2.197 million tourists, of which 338,000 tourists were received in the first half of this year. Competitions are one after another, study teams are one after another, and check-in tourists are one after another... The former Winter Olympics region has become a gathering place for high-standard events and a popular tourist destination that is popular all seasons.
Li Yanli believes that in the future, Chongli District still has great potential in the utilization of the heritage of Winter Olympic venues. Speaking of specific suggestions, she said: First of all, we must expand sports consumption scenarios and innovate the supply of Winter Olympic venues, such as supporting Winter Olympic venues to create a number of immersive sports consumption scenarios, encourage night sports consumption, and build more aging-friendly sports platforms. Secondly, we can build a comprehensive park or sports service complex, expand the service supply of Winter Olympic venues, carry out business, tourism, culture, sports and health linkage, build a "Winter Olympic venue +" integrated model, promote the integrated planning and development of venues, competitions, exhibitions, festivals and tours, and enrich service formats. Finally, it is advisable to innovate the heritage development model of Winter Olympic venues and strengthen the economic growth.
