Zhang Weiyu is from Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. His career also started in Changzhou. In his early years, he served as the president of the New Taipei Branch of China Construction Bank, and at the age of 38, he became the deputy president of the Changzhou Branch of China Construction Bank. Since then, he has served as president of Jiangsu Nantong Branch, president of Wuxi Branch, assistant president of Jiangsu Province Branch, and his promotion has been relatively smooth.
Later, Zhang Weiyu was promoted to the deputy president of the Jiangsu branch, when he was only 43 years old. Two years later, he was transferred to the position of president of the Suzhou Branch of China Construction Bank. During this period, he also served as the dean of the Suzhou Financial Technology College of CCB University and the dean of the Suzhou Financial and Insurance College.
Three years after taking office, Zhang Weiyu became the president of the Jiangsu Branch of the China Construction Bank at the end of 2019, and the importance of his position went further. But in 2022, he was transferred again and became the president of the Guangdong Branch of China Construction Bank.
