
On September 5, the "Qingjin Exploring the Double Carbon Meteorological Painting of Green Road" college students' low-carbon practice and meteorological technology integration activity was successfully launched in Shanxi. Students from the School of Geographical Sciences of Shanxi Normal University participated in the whole process. Through the integration model of "theoretical research and study + field practice", they actively explored the specific practical paths for meteorological technology to empower the "dual carbon" goal, injecting new impetus into youth to help green development.

This event is co-organized by Shanxi Province Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutral Industry Technology Innovation Consortium and Shanxi Meteorological Society, co-organized by Shanxi Normal University School of Geographical Sciences and Taiyuan Meteorological Bureau, and aims to build a communication platform between meteorological science and low-carbon practice and guide young students to explore new paths of green development.
On the morning of the same day, the special lecture on "Greenhouse Gas and Carbon Neutrality Monitoring and Evaluation" took the lead in kicking off the event. Based on the perspective of the coordinated development of meteorological technology and the "dual carbon" strategy, industry experts systematically explained the application logic of meteorological observation technology in greenhouse gas concentration monitoring, explained in detail the core methods of building a carbon emission assessment model based on meteorological data, and combined with the regional climate characteristics of Shanxi, they shared practical cases of regionally promoting carbon emission reduction based on meteorological advantages. From how meteorological data provides support for accurate carbon emission accounting, to the impact of extreme weather on the carbon neutrality process and response strategies, students present clearly grasp the key value of meteorological technology in the "dual carbon" work through progressive explanations, and lay a solid theoretical foundation for subsequent practice.

With learned theoretical knowledge, the students went to Qingxu Economic Development Zone and selected three representative enterprises to conduct in-depth research on the low-carbon development logic of "energy innovation-traditional transformation-material support". At Shanxi Meijin Huasheng Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd., by visiting the hydrogen energy industry display area and the display of core parts of hydrogen energy vehicles, the students intuitively learned about the implementation of hydrogen energy as a zero-carbon energy in the transportation and industrial fields, and the technological innovation process of enterprises in promoting the industrialization of hydrogen energy. Entering Shanxi Yaxin New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the students focused on learning from the valuable experience of enterprises in realizing low-carbon transformation of methanol-co-production synthetic ammonia industry through process optimization and energy cascade utilization, and clarified the carbon reduction path of traditional high-energy-consuming industries. At Shanxi Gengyang New Energy Co., Ltd., everyone has deeply understood the application scenarios of carbon fiber materials in wind power, new energy vehicles and other fields, and has experienced the important supporting role of new material technology in reducing carbon emissions in the industrial chain.
This event successfully built a practical bridge for the deep integration of meteorological technology and low-carbon development. For students from the School of Geographical Sciences of Shanxi Normal University, they not only systematically laid a solid foundation for professional knowledge in greenhouse gas monitoring and evaluation, but also intuitively witnessed the vivid practice of synergistic promotion of meteorological technology, industrial technology and the "double carbon" goal in the process of entering the front line of the industry, so that the theoretical knowledge of "talking on paper" can be transformed into the practical cognition of "integration of knowledge and action". This "school, local and enterprise" linkage education model has not only accumulated valuable experience for young students to empower green development with their professional directors and devote themselves to the "dual carbon" cause, but also explored a new path to cultivate innovative low-carbon talents in combination with "production, education, research and application", and provides Shanxi with practical samples and strong support that can be learned from the green and low-carbon transformation of local economy and society and achieve the "dual carbon" strategic goal.
