Jiangmen City is a prefecture-level city under Guangdong Province. It is located on the west coast of the Pearl River Delta. It is an important node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is known as the "Chinese Overseas Chinese Capital" and has the world cultural heritage "Kaiping Diaolou and Village".
The name of "Jiangmen" originates from its geographical location - Pengjiang, a tributary of the Xijiang River, flows into the Xijiang River here. The waters at the entrance of the river are wide and look like gateways, so they are called "Jiangmen". According to historical records, the name "Jiangmen" was already called "Jiangmen" during the Southern Song Dynasty. It originally referred to the river section at the intersection of Pengjiang and Xijiang, and later gradually became the place name of this area.

Kaiping Diaolou
Jiangmen City currently has 61 towns under its jurisdiction, and there is no official statement of "four major ancient towns", but the following four ancient towns have relatively high popularity in the local area. The following is an introduction to them:

Chikan Overseas Chinese Ancient Town: Located in Kaiping City, it has been built for more than 370 years. It is a famous historical and cultural town in China and the first batch of characteristic towns in the country. There are more than 600 arcade buildings here. It is the largest, most continuous and most complete ancient arcade building complex in the country, and it is also the only ancient town in China with the theme of overseas Chinese culture. It integrates sightseeing, leisure and vacation and other functions.

Gulao Water Town: Located in Gulao Town, Heshan City, with a history of more than 600 years, it is an original ecological water town in the Pearl River Delta region. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Feng Baxiu, a man from Gulao, was ordered to build Gulao, which gradually turned from a mudflat and a marina to a water town. There are attractions such as the Henghai Dream Cruise Project, Shanggu Laowei Waterfront Commercial Street, etc. You can also experience Wing Chun culture and taste specialties such as the ancient Lao Silver Needle.

Taishan Baisha Ancient Town: Located in the northwest of Taishan City, most of the arcades in the town were built in the 1920s and 1930s. The water transportation was prosperous in that time, and it was very prosperous as a commercial node. Although we have experienced the vicissitudes of time, we still retain a unique charm. Some arcades are still in the same style, and there are watchtowers built for self-protection outside the town.

Sanshisanxu Street: Located in Pengjiang District, Jiangmen City, it is the urban origin of Jiangmen. It consists of several streets such as Xuding Street, Jingguo Street, Chicken Selling Land, and Iron Street. It is named after the thirty-three-stage bluestone ladder. Its arcade building combines Chinese and Western styles. Film and television works such as "Crazy Beast" and "Chess" have been filmed here, full of fireworks on earth.
