Recently, a netizen with an IP in Hunan posted that as a part-time employee of Starbucks, he was forced to prepare 15 boxes" due to the store's Mid-Autumn Mooncake Sales Task, with an amount of nearly 3,000 yuan, resulting in a tight living expenses.

Many netizens who claim to be Starbucks employees said in the comment section that they are also facing a mooncake sales levy. A netizen with an IP address in Zhejiang responded that as a full-time employee, "the target 25 boxes have been 5 boxes, and it has been more than 1,000 yuan." The netizen also said that he was reselling mooncakes at a low price. If the task fails, he will be subject to substantial punishment: "If you fail to complete the task, you will not arrange three-paid shifts (calculated as three times the salary of your normal working day during national holidays). In addition, you will be punished to go to the long-distance scenic spot store to support it, and you can only reimburse half of the travel expenses."

On September 9, Jingshi Live reporter tried to contact the poster for details, but no response was received as of press time.
The reporter searched on a second-hand trading platform and found that many sellers were selling Starbucks mooncakes, and many of them claimed to be Starbucks employees. A seller with an IP address in Dalian told reporters that the task assigned by the store is to sell one box a week. Currently, the original price of mooncakes with a price of 358 yuan/box (six yuan pack) is 175 yuan/box, and the original price of 468 yuan/box (six yuan pack) is 248 yuan/box. "You have to pay a little, you can't sell it if you don't pay for it." The seller admitted that he did have a sales target, but was not mandatory to complete it. She said the task pressure varies from person to place, and because some sellers in the south sell at lower prices on second-hand platforms, she speculated that "maybe they are under greater pressure."
On September 10, Jingshi Live reporters reported the above situation to the Starbucks customer service hotline. The staff responded that the record would be transferred to the internal specialist for processing and said that they would respond. However, as of press time, Starbucks has not yet issued a reply.
Wu Xingjian, a lawyer at Hubei Chisheng Law Firm, believes that if an enterprise requires employees to purchase products on their own or advance payment when assigning sales tasks, it will bear greater legal risks. "A labor contract should follow the principles of voluntary equality and consensus. The enterprise passes business risks to employees, which violates the basic nature of the labor relationship."
