"Flying" is more common, and "wings" determine the level of the best. On September 9, the 2025 Shenyang "Craftsman Cup" UAV Employee Vocational Skills Competition was successfully launched at Caihu Airport in Faku County. As an important preheating link for the 2025 Liaoning Provincial Aviation Industry Development Conference and Shenyang Faku International Flight Conference, the competition attracted more than 120 employees of vocational colleges, enterprises and institutions across the city and drone enthusiasts to participate. Through competitions to promote training and competitions to promote use, it has built a platform for employees to display skills and exchange innovation. It is not only a comprehensive review of the skill level of employees in the region, but also an important measure to deepen the integration of industry and education and improve the construction of talent echelons.

It is understood that the competition will last until September 12, and will be jointly sponsored by the Shenyang Federation of Trade Unions and the Shenyang Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, hosted by the Faku County Federation of Trade Unions and the Faku County Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and co-organized by the Liaoning Provincial Air Transport Association and the Liaoning Drone Industry Association. It has been strongly supported by the Liaoning Faku Economic Development Zone Management Committee (Shenyang Faku General Aviation Industry Base Management Committee) and Liaoning Jinlu General Aviation Co., Ltd.

As a key measure for Shenyang City and even Liaoning Province to lay out low-altitude economy and consolidate the talent foundation, this competition closely focuses on the actual needs of the rapid development of the drone industry. Two competitions are set up, drone operators and drone installation and maintenance workers, which will comprehensively examine the contestants' theoretical literacy and practical ability. The theoretical examination is carried out on the computer, focusing on examining the professional knowledge base of the contestants, and the scores account for 30% of the total scores; the actual operation part adopts a concentrated on-site display, focusing on evaluating the contestants' practical application and emergency response capabilities, and the scores account for 70% of the total scores.
Li Yang, a contestant from a vocational college in Shenyang, said: "For this competition, my team and I conducted targeted training three months in advance, and each link was repeatedly polished. This competition is not only a test of skills, but also a rare learning opportunity. Everyone feels that they have gained a lot."

In recent years, Shenyang City has attached great importance to the development of low-altitude economic industries, and regards the drone industry as one of the emerging industries to be cultivated. It has introduced a series of support policies to promote the widespread application of drone technology in various industries. In order to fill the talent gap between drone operators and drone installation and maintenance workers in my country, this competition is very professional and practical. It not only helps to discover a group of craftsman-type talents with solid foundation and innovation capabilities, but also provides important talent support for the low-altitude economic development of the province and the city.
The relevant person in charge of the Shenyang Federation of Trade Unions said: "We will take this competition as a starting point to promote the deep integration and innovative application of drone technology in various industries, continue to build a systematic and multi-level talent training system, carry out drone popularization and experience activities, help Shenyang build a national central city and an advanced equipment manufacturing base, and contribute the trade union strength to Liaoning's comprehensive revitalization of new breakthroughs."
