September 2025 is the first national science popularization month. The Shunyi District Outline Office and relevant member units held the launch ceremony of the 2025 Shunyi District National Science Popularization Month event at the Chaobai Theater of the Cultural Center of Shunyi District on the morning of September 6th, focusing on the theme of "Technology Changes Life and Innovation Wins the Future", and jointly launched a one-month science popularization series of activities.
This event adopts the "main venue + sub-venue" linkage mode, and is spread simultaneously online and offline. The opening video of "The Light of Popular Science in Shunyi" was played at the launching ceremony, reviewing the process of popular science development in Shunyi's "14th Five-Year Plan" period. Wu Xiaojun, deputy secretary of the Shunyi District Party Committee, and Yue Hongzhi, a first-level inspector of the Beijing Science and Technology Association, delivered speeches on the spot. District Media Center, Science Popularization Volunteers, and youth representatives spoke separately, showing the diversity and vitality of science popularization.
The event site connects three sub-venues of Yulong District 4, Guangming Street, Qijiawu Village, Yang Town, and Dongfu Village, Beixiaoying Town, presenting special activities such as community science popularization tours, AI science popularization to the countryside, and science popularization carnivals, covering all age groups.
After the launching ceremony, the participants went to Ximen Square of the Cultural Center to participate in the popular science experience. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on scientific and technological innovation and popularization of science, knowledge of popular science, as well as the exhibition and publicity area for major national scientific and technological innovation achievements and outstanding scientific and technological workers in the district, and also set up a science show performance stage and six special exhibition areas: competitive experience area, VR interactive area, anti-fraud legal publicity area, enterprise science and technology innovation area, colorful market area, and science popularization exhibition area, covering Yushu robot interaction, ideal latest new energy smart car and Beijing off-road BJ40 extended-range car display, as well as more than 50 exhibitions including anti-fraud knowledge breakthrough, VR space navigation, intangible cultural heritage hand-made work, which attracted many people to come and check in and experience it.
This home event was free to the public at the Shunyi District Cultural Center from September 6 to 7, and nearly 50,000 people checked in and experienced on-site. According to statistics, in the past two days, nearly 70,000 people participated in offline science popularization experiences at various event venues in the district, and nearly 200,000 people participated online and offline.
The Shunyi District National Science Popularization Month activities will last until the end of September. During the event, a series of activities will be carried out such as science and technology academic exchanges, citizen science literacy competitions, and "public open day" science popularization experience, to create an immersive science popularization feast with national participation and full coverage, to promote the deep integration of popular science with education, culture, tourism, health and other fields, and to help improve the scientific literacy of the whole people.
