IT Home September 11th news, Korean media The Elec reported on the 9th local time that Samsung Display (SDC) is expected to launch trial production of the required panels for Apple's first OLED screen MacBook Pro laptop by the end of this year, and the official mass production time is at the end of the second quarter of 2026.
Samsung Display has successfully won the exclusive screen of Apple OLED MacBook Pro, and will provide 14-inch and 16-inch panels, which will be manufactured by Samsung Display's G8 IT OLED production facility A6.
A6 facilities include OLED production lines with 7500 sheets of glass substrate inputs in 2 months. The annual production capacity can reach 10 million yuan based on the 14.3-inch panel. Apple's screens will occupy one of them, and the overall production capacity in 2026 will be between 2 million and 3 million yuan.
In order to improve the capacity utilization rate of the A6 factory, Samsung Display is also communicating with the "DHL" laptop giants Dell, HP and Lenovo to allow another production line to operate as well; if IT customers obtain slowly, Samsung Display may be forced to transform the production line to add new production capacity of non-IT panels.
