On September 5, the 10th Standing Committee Meeting of the 10th 2025 and the 1st Board Meeting of the Sichuan Earthquake Society were successfully held in Chengdu. The meeting conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on key issues such as the development of the society and the progress of the industry. Sun Wei, director of the Public Service Department of the Sichuan Provincial Earthquake Bureau, delivered a speech, and Wu Weiwei, secretary-general of the Society, presided over.
The meeting emphasized that as a province with earthquakes, Sichuan has a heavy responsibility and a special mission to prevent and reduce earthquakes. As an important bridge, it must give full play to the advantages of the platform, continue to focus on core areas such as earthquake monitoring and early warning, disaster risk prevention and control, popular science publicity and education, further integrate high-quality resources across the province, and promote key technologies and the transformation of results.
At the meeting, Wang Song, director of the Planning and Finance Department of the Sichuan Provincial Earthquake Bureau, focused on the long-term development of regional earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, and shared the special topic on the "15th Five-Year Plan" earthquake prevention and disaster reduction planning work in Sichuan Province. Based on the regional characteristics of Sichuan's frequent earthquakes, the report systematically interprets the planning background, overall requirements, main tasks, and key projects. Wang Song said that the plan has entered the stage of soliciting opinions. All directors are welcome to actively make suggestions and jointly promote the formation of a scientific, reasonable and practical final planning plan.
Chairman Su Jinrong made an annual work summary report on behalf of the Society's Board of Directors, systematically reviewed the remarkable achievements made by the Society in key tasks such as system construction, business training, academic activities, popular science publicity in the past year, and objectively analyzed the current challenges facing the society's development. Su Jinrong said that the society will take this summary as a starting point to deepen institutional innovation, strengthen the construction of talent echelons, expand cooperation boundaries, and continue to write a new chapter in industry service and development.
After the collective voting of the directors at the meeting, the meeting formally established the "Sichuan Earthquake Society 11th Member Congress and the Preparatory Leading Group for the Change of Term", clarifying the duties and responsibilities of the leading group members and each working group, marking the entry of the preparation stage for the change of term of the society into the substantive stage. The meeting reviewed and passed important documents such as the "Finance Budget of Sichuan Earthquake Society in 2025", laying a solid foundation for the standardized operation and sustainable development of the society.
In the special study session of the party branch, Party branch secretary Wu Weiwei focused on learning the important instructions on scientific and technological innovation to promote the high-quality development of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction. She emphasized that learning party members should give full play to the role of pioneers and models, and closely combine the party’s advanced theories with practical work such as earthquake research and popular science promotion. During the academic report, Chairman Su Jinrong gave an academic report entitled "Construction and Application of Efficient Earthquake Early Warning and Emergency Response System", and deeply analyzed the construction logic and development direction of Efficient Earthquake Early Warning and Emergency Response System. Liao Xueyan, chief engineer of Chengdu Urban Safety and Emergency Management Research Institute, brought a wonderful report focusing on the deep integration of cutting-edge technologies and urban safety emergency response with the theme of "Safety Emergency Model Practice Sharing", and systematically shared the innovative practical results of the safety emergency response model. The report is both in-depth and practical, and has rich content.
